Current and future campus

Current campus

Luxembourg School of Business has adequate infrastructure at its disposal on the Luxembourg territory to sustain the various study programs offered; this infrastructure allows the students to do the work required to achieve the learning goals. Due to the increasing number of learners and resulting space limitation, the school has moved to a bigger campus in May 2021. The campus consists of a 3-floor building with parking spaces and a garden next to the river in 46, Cote d’Eich (total surface is over 1300m2). There are three full size classrooms for 30-50 people, each equipped to handle both the normal class and the hybrid COVID-19 class solution. In addition to that there are traditional learner facilities such as library, breakout rooms, dining area etc. There is also designated office space for faculty members.

Future campus

As a part of strategic development, Luxembourg School of Business is planning to move to the new campus in 2023. Therefore, the school has entered into a long-term lease of the Château de Septfontaines in Luxembourg.

The Chateau will be the future permanent campus of LSB, with enough capacity to host the school in the decades to come. The entire property is situated in a park of around 20,000m2. On the grounds, there will be opportunities to take additional office space as needed. The new facility will include an Amphitheatre, classrooms, study rooms, a library, common grounds for learners and faculty, offices for the administrative staff and faculty, canteen, and residence halls to host faculty and guests.

Luxembourg School of Business, as a supplement to on site learning, uses an online learning management system (LMS). This enables the students and faculty (both local and international) to remain constantly connected, and to continue working on class assignments and related research, whenever and wherever they may be located. The flexibility delivered through such LMS is very important and enables the school’s program to be flexible and to fit with the work schedule of the students. LMS also contributes to performing the continuous assessment of learning and to align students’ progress with the learning goals defined by the school. However, the programs taught are not distance learning/teaching classes; Luxembourg School of Business is not an online school. Distance learning and the IT infrastructure LMS are supplements that increase the quality of learning.

Accreditations of our programs

Luxembourg School of Business offers accredited degree-granting programs as well as a variety of short certificate programs which are not subject to accreditation by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR) of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg.

Currently LSB has two degree-granting programs which are accredited by MESR in accordance with the accreditation procedure set by the law of 19 June 2009 on the organization of higher education.

Our Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master in Management (MIM) programs are accredited by MESR. These programs are subject to reaccreditation every five years, meaning they are regularly audited by MESR.

Luxembourg School of Business also has institutional accreditation granted by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. You can find more detailed information on the Governement website. Our Executive Education Programs are not accredited by MESR and are not degree-granting programs. Most of our executive education programs are certificate granting. This means that a candidate is issued a Certificate of Attendance or a Certificate of Competency – depending on the structure of the program and the testing structure. These certificates are not degrees and cannot be recognized as degrees.

Luxembourg School of Business has established international partnerships with different universities allowing our students to spend part of their studies abroad through exchange programs.

Double Degree with Boston University

Learning Objectives of our Degree Programs

Master in Business Administration

Learning Goal 1: LSB students will have internalized a value system where ethics and corporate social responsibility are important.
Objective: The students will be able to identify the problems of ethics and corporate social responsibility, as well as forecast costs and benefits of good ethical conduct related to a company’s business.

Learning Goal 2 : LSB students will have the capacity of critical and analytical thinking.
Objective: The students will discover problems and offer possible solutions, as well as identify possible risks of a proposed solution.

Learning Goal 3: LSB students will have the capacity for adaptation which is necessary for doing business in the global environment.
Objective: The students will identify key global trends in their discipline and discuss the influence of those trends on the entire activity of a company.

Learning Goal 4: LSB students will communicate effectively in an appropriate way for management positions. Objectives: The students will develop communication skills needed in business, such as oral, written, and presentation skills together with the use of new technologies to communicate in an effective manner.

Learning Goal 5: LSB students will be able to understand how to motivate and influence others.
Objective: The students will identify an appropriate leadership approach to every context.

Modular structure of the MBA and related learning goals

The first module “Foundations” provides participants with basic knowledge needed to understand the dynamics of modern business.

The Competencies developed in the first module are:

  • Ethical understanding and reasoning (able to identify ethical issues and address the issues in a socially responsible manner)
  • Economic, political, regulatory, legal, technological, and social contexts of organizations in a global society
  • Managing in a global context

In the second module “Tools”, we build on these foundations and provide participants with the tools necessary to analyze, execute and implement business decisions.
The competencies developed in the second module are:

  • Written and oral communication (able to communicate effectively orally and in writing)
  • Information technology (able to use current technologies in business and management contexts)
  • Analytical Thinking (able to analyze and frame problems)

In third module, the participants are introduced to several main “Functions” crucial to every business. At this stage the participants are able to apply previously learned concepts to each of the main business functions, helping them get a cross-functional overview of an entire business operation.

The competencies developed in the third module are:

  • Reflective Thinking (able to understand oneself in the context of society)
  • Integrating knowledge across fields
  • Financial theories, analysis, reporting, and markets
  • Systems and processes in organizations, including planning and design, production/operations, supply chains, marketing, and distribution

In the fourth module, the participants work on developing leadership skills and are asked to provide “Directions” through various practical projects and tasks they will be assigned with.
The competencies developed in the fourth module are:

  • Leading in organizational situations
  • Interpersonal relations and teamwork (able to work effectively with others and in team environments)
  • Diverse and multicultural work environments (able to work effectively in diverse environments)

The fifth module “Extensions” takes previously learned concepts further and provides participants with a wider perspective enabling them to work in a cross-disciplinary environment.
The competencies developed in the fourth module are:

  • Integrating knowledge across fields
  • Diverse and multicultural work environments (able to work effectively in diverse environments)

In the final sixth module “Applications”, the participants are challenged by the faculty and asked to apply previously learned concepts and put them to practical use. The MBA culminates in a Consulting Project, whereby groups of participants work together on finding solutions to real-world problems by the sponsoring companies.
The competencies developed in the sixth module are:

  • Application of knowledge (able to transfer knowledge of business and management into practice)
  • Thinking creatively
  • Making sound decisions and exercising good judgment under uncertainty

Master in Management

Learning Goal 1: MM students will have internalized a value system that provides the foundation for socially responsible and ethical leadership and decision making. 
Objective: Through the lens of ethical frameworks and socially responsible business practices, students will display ethical leadership by identifying ethical issues and socially (ir)responsible actions, as well as forecasting costs and benefits of good ethical conduct related to a company’s business

Learning Goal 2: MM students will have the capacity to think critically in order to solve complex business problems and make sound managerial decisions. 
Objective: The students will discover and analyze problems and opportunities, offer solutions, and identify the benefits and risks of a proposed solution.

Learning Goal 3: MM students will demonstrate an understanding of doing business in the global environment.
Objective: The students will explain key global trends and assess the impact of those trends on doing business globally.

Learning Goal 4: MM students will be effective communicators at a level appropriate for business professionals, in both face-to-face and virtual contexts. 
Objective: The students will develop interpersonal and communication skills needed in business, such as collaborating effectively with others, oral and written communication, and presentation skills, incorporating new technologies to facilitate communication.

Learning Goal 5: MM students will demonstrate, through theory application, professional skills required of competent early career professionals. 
Objective: The students will apply practical, actionable knowledge and skills necessary for professional employment, will be adaptable to changing business conditions, and be resilient when faced with challenges and setbacks.
